“It feels like churches today only care about money.”
There’s too much abuse and misuse of church funds—why should I give?
How can I be sure my contribution is being used for a meaningful purpose?
These are valid concerns, and at Connally Drive Christian Ministries, we believe in addressing them with both transparency and biblical truth. That’s why we’ve provided scriptural insights to help you better understand the true purpose and heart behind giving according to the Bible.
In addition, we’ve included a short, impactful video for those who prefer a visual explanation. Our hope is that this information brings clarity, encourages trust, and helps you see giving as a form of worship—an opportunity to honor God, support His work, and bless others.
Don’t simply take our word for it—let’s explore what Scripture says about giving and why it matters to God.
At its core, giving is an act of worship. It reflects our acknowledgment that God is the true Lord over our lives and that everything we have ultimately comes from Him. As James 1:17 (NIV) reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
When we give, we’re not merely making a financial contribution—we are returning a portion of the abundance God has already entrusted to us. Our generosity demonstrates our gratitude, reverence, and submission to His will. It’s a visible expression of faith and an acknowledgment that we trust God as our provider.
In the Old Testament, God instructed His people to give a tithe—ten percent of their increase—as a sign of devotion and honor, offering the first and best of what they had. This principle underscored the importance of placing God first in all things.
In the New Testament, while a specific percentage is not mandated, believers are encouraged to give regularly, proportionately, and cheerfully. As the Apostle Paul instructs in 1 Corinthians 16:2 (NIV), “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.”
This guidance highlights that giving should be intentional and prioritized—not an afterthought. Offering the first portion of our income symbolizes that God holds first place in our hearts. It reflects complete trust and obedience to our Lord and Savior.
Finally, giving is not just about obedience—it’s also about blessing. Acts 20:35 (NIV) reminds us of the words of Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” In God’s economy, generosity brings joy, fulfillment, and spiritual growth. Giving aligns us with God’s heart and allows us to participate in advancing His Kingdom on earth.
At Connally Drive Christian Ministries, we encourage all believers to prayerfully consider their giving as a sacred act of worship and a vital part of their spiritual journey.
